Catriona will be 13 in January. She first came along to Christchurch City Chorus when she was 9 - anyone was welcome to come along and sing Christmas carols with the chorus. No-one had to audition at that time, just come along and sing! Jennifer(Catriona's sister, 14 at the time) and Catriona both came and really enjoyed it.
Catriona is very diligent - she is a fast learner and makes sure that she learns all the new songs and is always striving to improve. Sweet Adelines is basically her life - the CDs she listens to, the DVDs she watches - all predominantly barbershop.
She was put in the front row just after she turned 11, and is just over the moon about that - she wants to make sure that her place there is safe!
She is presently at intermediate School - moving on to high school after the summer holidays. She has started up a little barbershop group at her school where she sings Bass! The singing teacher said that she couldn't think of anyone else who would have a Bass voice when Catriona asked her for help in getting someone!
Her aim at present is to be the longest ever 'serving' Sweet Adeline!
Travelling overseas as a member of Christchurch City Chorus was an amazing experience.
Being one of the youngest members at the competition was so much fun! The competition was really intimidating but everyone looks after you.
The little i saw of the other choruses was a huge learning curve, especially attending the Harborlites' (International Chorus Champions) rehersals.
Sweet adelines really is one big family. I loved International Competitions and I would go back in a heart beat. I'm looking foward to going back in 2009 or 2010 already!
